"A Christmas Melody" starring singer and alleged director, Mariah Carey, is a
rip off of the "Mean Girls" movie, but set at Christmas with older women. The
film also stars Lacey Chabert, who was also the star of, you guessed it, "Mean
"A Christmas Melody" is set in Silver Falls, Ohio and tells the story off a
woman named Kristen and her young daughter Emily, who moved to the town from Los
Angeles, after her fashion business fails.
They try to fit in but a group of
older mean girls, led by, who else, Mariah Carey's character, Melissa, is mean
to them. Melissa makes it difficult for Kristen and her daughter to take part in
the local school play.
This film was an irritating watch. It just goes on and on, packed with corny
lines and cheesy, soulless Christmas music.
The movie is lightweight with no
real storyline that would endear you to keep watching (unless you had to review
it and subsequently subjected yourself to this form of harsh self-punishment).
Christmas movies like these really make me appreciate the genius of "Home Alone"
and its sequel.
